His influence can still be seen in the beautiful seminary building that became one of the most admired facilities on campus.

Dr. G recalls how Dr. Lockwood's talents extended beyond administration. Students eagerly attended chapel whenever word spread that he would be incorporating one of his famous magic illustrations into the message. More than entertainment, these demonstrations served as memorable teaching tools, helping biblical truths remain in the minds and hearts of those who heard him speak. His ability to communicate clearly and creatively made him a beloved leader among students, faculty, and staff. Yet perhaps the most powerful lesson Dr. Lockwood ever taught came during his long battle with cancer. After spending more than half of his presidency facing the disease, he delivered a chapel message on preparing for death. Rather than fear or uncertainty, students witnessed a man filled with peace, confidence, and trust in God's promises. For Dr. G, that message became an unforgettable example of faith in action—a picture of someone who truly believed the hope he taught and was prepared to meet his Savior with calm assurance and joy.
