Ray Lubeck

As Ray's career developed, he became known not only as an exceptional teacher but as a mentor who inspired students toward deeper study and academic excellence. Many future scholars found encouragement and direction through his influence. Recognizing his unique gifts, Dr. G worked hard to keep Ray at Multnomah when other institutions sought to recruit him. His vision, intellect, and ability to develop future teachers made him an invaluable part of the faculty and a key contributor to the school's academic legacy. The episode also offers a glimpse into Ray's personal life, including his battle with serious health challenges and the faithfulness of his wife, Tamara, through difficult seasons. Dr. G recalls praying through a long night when doctors doubted Ray would survive, only to witness God's grace in preserving his life for many more years of ministry. Through stories of scholarship, friendship, family, and even softball, this episode celebrates a man whose impact extended far beyond the classroom and whose influence continues through the many lives he helped shape.
